How to Use Castile Soap

Body Wash

To use as body wash, simply squirt a small amount onto a wet washcloth or scrubby and apply it to a wet body. Enjoy clean skin without any residue left behind.

Face Wash

For washing your face, simply add 2-3 drops to wet hands and begin washing your face. Yes, it will even take off your makeup and waterproof mascara! Use your favorite face serum or moisturizer after you dry your face off.

Shampoo

When it comes to washing your hair, take about a half-tablespoon into your hand. Then, begin working that into your hair. Alternatively, you can dilute the half-tablespoon into half a cup of water before working it into your hair.

Shaving

You will want to work the soap into a lather and apply it to the skin before shaving. Depending on what you are shaving, the amount of soap needed will vary. For your face, you need about 10 drops of soap. If you’re doing your armpits, you’ll need about 3 drops. Lastly, for your legs, you’ll need about half a teaspoon.

Toothpaste

Yep, you can even use castile soap as toothpaste if you want! Just add one drop to your toothbrush and start scrubbing those pearly whites. If you prefer to have some flavor to it, add a drop of your favorite essential oil to the toothbrush too. We enjoy cardamom, peppermint, or clove for this.

Foot Bath

Want to soak your feet and get them feeling extra clean? Enjoy a foot bath by adding one and a half teaspoons of soap to a small tub of warm water and enjoy!

For Congestion

To help remove built-up mucus and congestion from your system, add one tablespoon of soap to a bowl of steaming hot water. Then, breathe in the mist with a towel draped over your head. For added benefit, choose our Peppermint + Eucalyptus castile soap to do this with!

Washing Dishes

If you have some dishes you need to handwash, castile soap is perfect for this. First, you’ll want to pre-dilute soap 1:10 with water. Then, squirt on a scrub brush and get to cleaning.

Laundry Soap

Castile soap will even keep your clothes clean! All you have to do is add one-third to one-half a cup of soap for a large load into your washing machine. If you’d like choose a scented castile for this or add in 5-10 drops of your favorite essential oil for added freshness. Then, if you choose, add half a cup of vinegar for the rinse cycle. Personally, we skip the vinegar and everything still comes out smelling fresh and clean!

All Purpose Cleaner

Get ready to clean everything in your house! Add a quarter cup of soap and 32 ounces of water into a spray bottle. Shake well before use. You can also add 20-30 drops of tea tree or lemon essential oil to this for added benefit.

Floor Cleaner

To mop those dirty floors, add two and a half tablespoons of soap to one gallon of water. Optionally add in tea tree or lemon essential oil for added benefit. Mix the bucket of water well and begin mopping your home. This is good for all hardwood or tile floors.

Window Cleaner

When it comes to cleaning your windows, this is a two-step process. First, you will add one tablespoon of soap and 32 ounces of water to a spray bottle. Clean the windows with this solution. Then, follow up with half vinegar and half water solution to wipe any suds away. You can also use this on your bathroom mirrors.

Toilet

To keep your toilet bowl clean, you will want to pre-dilute the soap 1:4 with water in a spray bottle and add about 20-30 drops of tea tree essential oil to the bottle. Spray the toilet bowl, sprinkle it with baking soda, and scrub the bowl. Then, let this sit for about 10 minutes before flushing.

Makeup Brush Cleaner

This may very well be the cheapest way to clean all those makeup brushes. To do so, simply add a very tiny drop of soap onto the brush. Then, with the sink on, roll the brush around in the palm of your hand until the makeup comes off the brush. Rinse when done and enjoy clean brushes!

Fruit & Veggie Wash

With so many fruits and veggies being sprayed, it’s important to wash your veggies before consuming them. A simple way to do this is by adding a quarter teaspoon of soap into a bowl and washing the produce before rinsing it with clean water.

Dog Shampoo

We all love our furry friends, but the dirt and grim they track into the house isn’t as loveable. To clean your pup, you’ll want to use just enough soap to get a good lather on them. The amount you will use will depend on the size, hair type, and dirtiness of your dog. To be safe, we recommend using the unscented since essential oils are much stronger for our furry pets.

Pest Control

If you love gardening like me, you’ll be happy to know that castile soap is a safe and organic way to keep those pesky pests at bay. All you need to do is mix one tablespoon of soap into 32 ounces of water and spray the plants. For added benefit, you can add one tablespoon of neem oil to the mixture as well (just make sure you emulsify it properly).

Ant Control

Are you dealing with ants sneaking their way into your home? Castile soap can help keep them from entering. You will want to mix a quarter cup of soap and 20-30 drops of tea tree essential oil into about 32 ounces of water. Put this mixture into a spray bottle and spray the affected areas. Just remember that this is for ants and not the pests in your garden. If you spray this on your plants, it will cause damage.

And, there you have it! All the amazing ways you can use castile soap and get rid of so many cleaning bottles from under your sink! If you’re looking for the perfect castile soap to use, we have five amazing scents for you to choose from to help you with all of your cleaning needs.
